The King and I

Well, Rumors has finished and was a wonderful show, and now we are on to the next show! We are now doing The King And I, by Rodgers and Hammerstein. I am playing the part of the Kralahome, who is the king’s right hand man for those of you who don’t know classic theater. It is looking like it will be another great show. Not a comedy this time, but definitely a classic, and well worth watching if you get the chance.

On another subject, I’m still waiting to see if I get the tax rebate, and if I do, it will help get a lot done around here. I’m hoping to be able to finally replace the roof. Hope to hear back from you soon!

Rumors are a terrible thing – unless it’s Neil Simon

The new show we are doing is Rumors, by Neil Simon, and it IS a farce. I am not in the cast, but I am the set designer/lead carpenter. As such, I have seen most of the show throughout rehearsals, and I feel confident in saying it will be a hilarious show. The next show is supposed to be “The King and I” and I plan to audition. I’ll make sure to let you know if I get a part, but either way I have already been asked to help with the set. Wish me luck in getting a part, I would LOVE to be a part of a show so classic.

Too-long-due update

Well, it looks like I’ve done gone and forgotten about posting to keep everyone updated again – so I’ll give you another lump-sum update :D
Pets:
Draoi
Draoi, my american foxhound, is still here and is one of the best-behaved dogs I have seen in a long time. He has lost his front teeth though, and his muzzle is going gray, so I think he’s getting toward the end.
Presley, the miniature german schnauzer, is doing fine as well, though he’s got a bit of a gut now.
Ahren
Ahren, the husky, is good – he’s getting more exercise now, and his current food is not giving him the right nutrition, so we are trying a few different things to try and get him to put on weight, though he loves getting his picture taken.
Ozzy
Ozzy, one of the 2 chihuahua’s, is settling in well and getting the rules down well, and loves to play with Ahren, Cody, and Madoc.
Cody
Cody, the other chihuahua, is a brand-new addition to our family as of right before christmas, and he has taken to me like a duck to water – and he is the sweetest little dog you could ever meet.
Madoc
Madoc Warree, our cat, is also doing well – better than her sister, medea, who we had to get rid of because she couldn’t stay out from underfoot and she was getting hurt cause she would get stepped on a lot and wouldn’t move or avoid feet. Madoc loves to get down on the floor with the husky and the chihuahuas and play, but it is so funny seeing a cat play with a chihuahua and a husky, One of these times I’ll get a picture of them. Unfortunately so far, Madoc still hasnt sat still long enough to get a good picture, but I’ll keep trying.
As to our rat, we had to find him a new home because with all we are doing here noone has the time to socialize and play with him as he needs, so it’s kinder to him to have a new home where he will get the love and play-time he needs.
On the house I have patched another hole in the roof – it’s really time for a new roof on the house as a whole, but I have to save up for that project.
I also replaced a toilet and the floor under it – and found out that putting a toilet in is a lot more complicated to get right in an old house than I would have thought. Library pictures are coming soon, this month for certain, I just still haven’t gotten around to taking them yet.
We did figure out how to get the settings right for the mac laptop (ibook) to go online through the high-speed here at the house, and manda is getting to know the mac, as am I. It is definately a different world than windows.
Pics of all the pets will be included in this post, pics of me and manda and the house will be in the next post. Talk to you again soon!

June Update

Not too much new news. They started Will Rogers follies, and then realized that they hadnt allotted enough time to get all the costuming done or the rehearsals for the music, so it was postponed till later this year. We are getting ready to put a new floor in in the bathroom, and a new toilet. I am also working on taking down the mass of small trees clogging my yard. The pets are all doing well, and we are still waiting for the answer on mandas disability. Other than that, not much is happening.

Board Hopes

Well, opening night has passed with no major disasters, and the audience loved the show!  I also heard tonight that the board of directors is talking about asking me to join the board!  Apparently they have been very impressed with not only my acting, but with how responsible I am and with how dedicated to the theater I have been and that I am interested in more than just doing Tova’s plays.  If I get invited to join the board it would be a tremendous opportunity for me, so I am very excited and hopeful.

Well, production starts tomorrow night, and we got the show recorded last night and tonight.  The show is amazing, but I almost can’t wait till it’s over, i’m just exhausted.  However, this summer, when I get my new computer this summer I will be digitizing the video so I can can make DVD’s and send them out to family and friends.Anybody interested in getting a copy of the video should contact me and let me know, or leave it on a comment if I know how to get ahold of you.

R.I.P. Ashes

We had to have ashes put down yesterday – turns out it was the one thing we didn’t have checked because we were told she had her vaccine – she had rabies, and according to the vet she had to have had it for at least 8 months And after talking to the other vet in town, (the one we don’t use) we found out that Ashes previous owner used to take her to them, and that they had left her a message after her last round of tests that she had rabies, but she never returned the call – and this was right before she was given to us.

So, Ashes is no longer with us. We are grieving, because we both got very attached to her while she was here, and having to put her down was a very painful decision, even though she was only here a short time.

Computer Update

Well, turns out I’m probably not going to be getting the dual-core opteron processors, they are just too expensive right now for the speed I need.  However, Intel’s core 2 duo line is a lot less expensive for the speed.  (never thought I’d see the day when intel was cheaper than AMD)  So, I am now looking for a mobo that will support 2 intel core 2 duo’s.  It will probably have to be a server board, as i doubt that the client side boards are up to that level yet, but i’m hoping that i can at least find a board that will take at least 16 megs of ram.  I also want to make sure i can use RAID, as from what i’ve seen on a friends pc, vista seems to handle raid very well, reading multiple drives as a single drive – and with the amount of data I will be storing, that would be a very good thing for me.  I was always having to move things back and forth to make sure i had enough room in the right places.

Tears for ashes and Joy for for Arsenic

Well, Only 2 categories this time.
The himalayan we got, Ashes, is refusing to eat.  We have had her checked out and theres nothing medically wrong with her – she just lived for 4 years in one home and now that she’s in a new home she just refuses to eat or do anything.  She calmed down a lot, but its as if she has just given up on living, and there doesn’t seem to be anything we can do.
On a happier note, the set of Arsenic and Old Lace is going wonderfully – we are almost finished putting the set up, and hope to be done by this saturday – when we have our (hopefully) last paint day scheduled.  Also, right now I have my own key to the theater, so I can go and work on the set when nobody else can be there, so the set is going up much faster than it would otherwise.  And, it doesn’t really seem to be slowing me down on learning my lines either.
